The medical field worldwide adopts the Declaration of Geneva, an updated hippocratic oath dealing with the moral fallout of World War II on the medical profession. In the two decades after World War II, the trappings of medical practice would be solidified throughout the developed world, from universal healthcare in almost every industrialized democracy, to employer-based coverage and Medicare in the United States.
